I'm quite involved in the rescue and it varies from rescue to rescue. I think any responsible rescue should alter before adopting the dog out, otherwise there's that chance that the dog could end up producing puppies.

I really wish that they ALL would rehome them AFTER they have been fixed. Some breeders do and some do not. It works for people rehoming their dog too. They state they want them in a good loving pet home yet sell them or rehome them in tact, when a simple procedure would prevent these dogs from ending up in mills or with byb. Elaine

So it does happen. How sad for the poor dogs
In my contract it says I will rehome them for you.
Please do not put them in a shelter.
I am in contact thru visits , emails with pics.
All my babies are spoiled rotten so far.
But I sure will remember this if I do have to ever rehome one.
