Handlers charge from $55 to $100 depending on who you hire and that's just taking the dog in the ring and besides the handling fee you have boarding fee and coat care and part of the handlers traveling expenses. I would defintely find a toy handler vs. an all breed handler to start out with. You, yourself can start in the puppy classes to get them use to the ring and the environment but I wouldn't put with a handler until the dog was in full show coat and ready to win.
You can go to onofrio.com and start looking for shows in your area that are coming up.
Again, before putting with a handler make sure the dog is ready to start winning.
