I don't think that is necessary true. Yorkies can be left for long periods but they do best with companionship. I think if you are away for 8-10 hours a day, it is best to come home in between and let them out though. If you get two, they would have each other making it even better (lots of training though). Another thing you can do if you will be gone for longer periods is pee pad train him/her because I just don't like the thought of them having to "hold it" all day. You do have to pay special attention to pups though because hypoglycemia is common. The chances of this happening can be reduce if you don't get your pup til 12 weeks old.
