I have had two experiences breeding a bitch at every cycle...first was a 4 yr old imported from the UK 30 plus years ago...I knew nothing about breeding and did as the breeder said..breed her at least 4 more times, twice in her 5th yr and twice in her 6th year. She had a litter of 3 and all went fine...bred her again and at 8 weeks her uterus ruptured and she lost 4 pups and nearly her life.
Vets comments to me....the uterus looked like an old, worn out balloon that has been blown up too many times...needless to say I learned a hard lesson fast.....there was no internet forums, breeding sites or even any indepth books on breeding. Few breeders were into mentoring unless you showed.

Second bitch was purchased many years later from Tiny Treasures in Canada.
Bitch was 3.6 yrs...breeder said she had 2 litters, was skipped and ready to be bred...she was bred twice and no pups resulted. I was advised to contact the CKC in Canada and get her breeding history...something the AKC will not reveal.
Results...she had been bred FIVE times in a row..I had her spayed asap!
Breeder knew the bitch was done, but sold her anyway...
