When I was growing up our family used to take a week long beach vacation to North Mrytle Beach we would stay at Ocean Creek condominiums, they are right on the beach and right across the street from Barefoot Landing and right up the road from Hollywood at the beach. I used to really enjoy it.
Also, I hear Savannah is beautiful and Charleston, SC is a nice place to visit. It's got the beach but also some historical things as well.
Or my co-worker is taking this Route 66 trip starting in California and ending up back here in Ohio. It sounds kind of interesting, lots of stuff to see and do, but it's also pretty much just a car trip so not sure if that's somethign that interests your family or not.
