I dont believe it is bettering any breed because it is a mixed breed, but the first cross is a much healthier and smarter dog than either parent. The offspring takes the best traits from both parents. It is really intresting to look into. Many people want these poodle crosses because they have less shedding and they are better with allergies. They also are very smart. People mess up by not doing the proper testings and research, an can produce a genetic defect as far as hips, eyes, and other genetic traits. When you have a perfect poodle and a perfect breed (ex golden retriever), it is going to produce an amazing dog. It will bring the best traits of both worlds. They are incredibly cute too. (my photo is a goldendoodle) Many people argue that if one wanted a mixed breed dog, then they should go to the shelter, instead of producing more. Everybody needs to realize that their are many purebred animals in shelters too, and not everybody rescued their baby. One who wants a certain mixed breed as bad as somebody who wants a certain perfect purebred is going to go to a breeder of that breed, unless they find one in a rescue. I believe with proper research it can be a positive thing. I personally think it is best to spay your animals and not breed them. I do believe if you are going to breed you should do much research and try your best to better your breed or better the animal. Also, their are mixed breed registries. I know CKC registers mixed breeds, although they seem to register almost anything. I believe this purpose is just to keep track of histories. Might I also add... I do not quite understand the genetics of mixed beed dogs, but Dr. kaye was explaining to me that the first cross is the healthiest, and when they are bred back to a 75% 25% or bred with another first generation, it brings back a higher chance of health problems. | I agree, too! I guess if we are buying from a breeder we aren't helping shelter dogs in a sense. Unless you got all of your dogs from a shelter, you can't keep yelling a people about their dogs. You're not helping at the end either. |
