You are doing the responsible thing. Rarely does anything go wrong with spay/neuter. Are you having bloodwork done before to make sure there are no underlying health problems? Spaying is worth it - you'll almost eliminate her risk for mammary cancer, whereas an intact female has a 1 in 4 chance of developing it. She also can't develop pyometria or go through false pregnancies...or a real accidental pregnancy.
