There can be NO signs. My dog was very athletic, ate like a pig, NO signs...and I mean none. Perfect coat. Very strong. Nothing. His blood work was FINE at neutering. We only found out by accident when he got bladder stones (which can be a sign but not always--we are not sure in this incident). The surgeon thought it strange that a male dog so young would have stones. Anyways, they saw the shunts. Now...is blood work is FINE!!!!!!!!! But his bile acids were high when they did those. His are inoperable but we are doing great.
Any yorkie I get, I will bile acid test.
And I am NOT the only one with lack of symptoms. I have met a TON of people that they didn't know until a major symptom popped up or they found out by accident.
