Im so sorry for your loss. I can not tell you what to do but if I were in the situation you are, I would go to he funeral. I know you are in a hard spot but im sure your friend will appreciate your support at this hard time. Try to explain to the children that you are very sorry and will make it up to them, maybe buy the plastic eggs and fill hem with candy, stickers and do a small easter egg hunt a home with them. Im sure they will like that. They get to spend time with grandma and they get to do something different with mommy, and you will be here to help your friend at this sad time.
