This is the difference between an inexpensive pin brush and the CC brush, which by the way I use on all three of my girls and one has VERY thick cotton coat. The cheaper brush can actually "pull" the hairs out of the dog. You many not feel it pulling but they do. This is because of the way the pin is made. It's like taking the straight pin and just putting the tiny round tip that has a tiny hole in it, down on the pin. The hair catches under the tiny tip where the pin and ball meet. The CC brush pins and ball tip are just one piece, not two. I hope I have explained this right. You will also need a slicker brush to help with any mats.
