Excellent Post Misty

I just couldn't agree more. It just saddens me so much what most breeders have done to this wonderful breed. Yorkies are massed produced...no health screening done and no regard to if the dog even meetss the standard...and now we have many yorkies that don't even look like a yorkie according to the standard. And look at the health problems that plague this breed...yes, even the best breeders sometimes contribute to this..but it's mostly a resuls of bybs and puppymills. People breed tiny dogs and put their lives at risk just so they can lie to the public about having "teacups" and make $$$. It's just sickening. IGNORANCE IS NOT AN EXCUSE

And I am SICK of people being more worried about being rude to a newbie over the safety and well-being of the dog. Things need to be said whether the person wants to hear it or not. People need to get over their pride, ego, or whatever and listen to good advise when it is given. Most people don't care because they are out to make $$$...they don't want to take the time and spend the money for quality dogs or for health screening...they just want to pop out puppies and *hope* they aren't ever responsible for the defects they produce. These breeders cause heartache for the new family and pain for the puppy they brought into this world.

I'm not a breeder but I know what it takes to breed to right way. I've done my research so that I can find a reputable breeder in the future. It's sad when I know more about the breed and breeding ethically than some breeders... it's not that difficult to do your research before breeding! I for one refuse to help any breeder breeding for the wrong reasons...yes, I care about the poor dogs...but I will NOT support bad breeding period. If someone is really trying to learn and willing to listen, I'll talk to them all day long if that's what they want...I'm willing to help anyone, no matter the subject, if they want the help. But I will not be apart of reckless breeding.

I'm just sick of it...why can't people just educate themselves before they buy a dog and definitely before they breed it? Breed for the right reasons. Breed the right way!
