I am a new yorkie mom and have a new yorkie girl who is almost 5 months old. We intend to get her spayed. She currently weighs around 4 lbs. (not too small for this age I think). When is a good time for her to have the operation? We currently have an appointment for Aril 10 but this seems to me to be a little too early. The next available appt is not until the end of May. A friend was told (by a vet) that it's good too wait until she's gone into heat for the first time before having her spayed. Any advice on this matter would be appreciated.
