Does his hair come out when you brush it? Excessively I mean...or when you run your hair down his back? You said....you are finding clumps....so if it isn't coming out when you brush or pet him...I'm wondering if perhaps he's pulling it out? He may be allergic to any number to things and be itchy...therefore pulling out his hair.
