Many vets recommend an annual, sedated tooth brushing for adult dogs. I've never done it, but I've heard the cost is around $500, well at least for larger dogs. Perhaps Yorkies are less.

I would imagine that could be done when the baby teeth are being pulled, and it would be a good idea to check.

I use a finger brush and brush every day and have so far avoided the need for a sedated cleaning. He's 4.
