I have seen champions for sale anywhere from $6,000 to $10,000. I don't know how hard it is to buy one. I know many breeders sell their retired champions to pet homes after they are spayed or neutered. If I was a breeder I would not want to just turn over one of my champions to someone that was not showing and was just interested in breeding. You could probably take your time and find a quality male around 10 to 12 months old and turn him over to a reputable handler to finish and maybe spend less money or close to the same amount. It is my dream also to have a champion someday but to me it will be much more rewarding to breed and finish my own home grown champion. There is much work involved in growing a show coat, but even though you are working full time it can be done. The main thing is to keep your show prospects in oil so they won't tear up their coat. I know many show breeders that work full time jobs. If you have some nice females with nice pedigrees then you might consider breeding one of them to a champion and hopefully you could get a show prospect from that. Just follow your dreams and maybe someday your wish will come true.
