rescuing animals...my $.02 I was at the vet this last week and a lady came in with a medium sized mix breed dog. The dog had a small scar circling his entire muzzle area. Apparently, when the previous owners left the island, they decided it would be a good idea to tie a wire around his mouth to keep it shut and leave him on the street. She also said there were plenty of other cases doing the same thing (zip ties, etc.)
What is the purpose of that and how could anyone do that to their pet or any animal for that matter??!! Some people think that just because they aren't humans they don't mean as much in this life and they can treat them anyway they like. Its so sad and breaks my heart all the time.
I guess I have to think of it as I took two less animals out of bad situations and gave them good homes. I can't rescue every animal and sometimes I feel like I don't do enough, but I guess its more spreading the word about animal cruelty and speaking up than filling a house with dogs and cats.
It makes me think of a commercial that I see regularly. Apparently, there are ton of variations on youtube saying the same thing.
A grandmother and grandson are walking down the beach and the beach is covered with starfish. The boy is throwing them back into the ocean and the grandma says "there are too many starfish out of the water, you will never get them all. Surely you cannot expect to make a difference" and the grandson replies as he throws one back "I made a difference to that one, it made a difference to that one"
Seriously, makes me cry every time!! |
