I got one on my shoulder 27 years ago and don't really remember it...had it covered over about 3 weeks ago and that was bad...but my foot was the worst by far...I thought about telling him to stop...at half a ladybug! But half a ladybug was better than no ladybug at all!
The right half was on a bonier part of the foot and was MUCH worse...at first it felt like he was just burning me but it got intense. I would not say don't get one on your foot I would say start small! And pain is different for everyone. But the tat will be worth it all I am sure...it is forever art! and be prepared to not wear any closed shoes for about 3 weeks!!!
