The mother doesn't always determine the size as they can take after a previous generation. My Mandy was never over 4.2 lbs unless pregnant and her first mate was 4.4 lbs. He 4 sons weighted between 3.4 lbs and over 8 lbs when a year old.
The second male she had puppies with was just at 5 lbs but smaller than her.
Puppies were small like mom and dad.
Krissy is 14 lbs and Teddy was 16 lbs and one female was 16 lbs at 7 months!!! This was a shock to everyone.
I think she is about 20 lbs full grown.
Krissy and Teddy are both blue and gold and their big girl was very black and tan and has no silver or gold at almost two years old. It looks like Krissy's grandfather was black and tan.
It is just easier on the mom if dad is smaller from what I have heard. |
