| Separate until the puppy is a year old and is old enough to stand up for himself.....we kept the killing cat in the kitchen/catflap to outside, and when Tara was a puppy, he would grab her around the neck in his teeth...as if to say "Well, I could if I wanted".....she would just cower and stand rigid ....with his teeth around her, and it took until she was a year old , and me saying "sort him!" for her to woof at him and scare him off ! He didn't bother doing it to my next two who I bought at an older age.
I would never leave an evil cat in the room with a Yorkie puppy.
I now have the old cat, -kitchen and outdoors, another indoor cat who is trustworthy with the Yorkies, and a 6 month kitten, who is mostly indoors, but has started to go out.....all of them are fine with the dogs, but I would never leave them in the room with the older killing machine !
