| What a terrible story....I think it's common....it's a job to them, and not their children if you know what I mean !
I have never left my Yorkies....haven't been abroad since I bought Tara 8 years ago, and I have the 3 of them now....I took Tara to England tho' before the others came !
We had the same problem as you have just had though, with our Bearded Collie once when she was 1 yr....Ashley (our daughter) was too young to leave and went to my Mum and Dad's with Tara, and they didn't want Tasha, so we left her overnight in a brand new built kennels while we went to see a group 100 miles away. We were disgusted at the stinking, soaking wet with urine, shaking dog we got back the next morning !
She hasn't been in Kennels since and is 7 this June.....I couldn't ever put her thu that again.
It's not as if she should have been like that.....we had left Tasha for 10 days in good kennels(no spaces for that one night tho' ) when we only had Tara and went to England on holiday with Tara.....Tasha the Beardie was fine then, she got walked 4 times a day and had a play time with toys in a fenced area, and she was bathed and groomed...even had a machine clean blanket when we picked her up ! She was wagging her tail and was happily slopping us when we picked her up.
Since the horror night, we have one night out a year ...that same gig 100 miles away, and Ashley babysits all dogs....she is 18 in Sept, and usually has a friend stay with her and the dogs....we get back at 2am.
I wish I had someone close who would dog-sit, but 4 would shock them, hee hee !
If I were you, I would write a letter of complaint and tell a local newspaper ! Debra x x x
