I would just be very specific with what you want done. If you don't want him shaved be sure you tell them, make sure you tell them you still want to be able to put a top knot in. I prefer to take mine to a groomer who works on my dog start to finish so that I only have to leave her there 2 2 1/2 hours tops. Be sure to post pics after.
