I volunteered at our local hospital in the recovery room for a few years. I learned that it is always better to stay ahead of the pain with meds than to let it get bad and then try to catch up with meds. You might be playing "catch up" and it will take awhile for the meds to get up to the levels needed in her blood. Keep giving the meds -- unless of course your vet finds another problem.
