I agree with you. When I got my puppy there was an absolutely beautiful female about a year old and she weighed around 3.5 pounds - she said when she was born she was not as healthly as the others in the litter and so she wouldn't sell her. She was having her spayed that next week and was going to keep her and not sell her because she wasn't sure if she would stay healthy even though she was very healthy at the moment. I respected the breeder for not trying to sell her. I wanted a male puppy so I know she wasn't saying that to get me interested in the dog.
