Oh boy. I can see red, and it's not even my house. That is a HUGE pet peeve of mine!
HUGE! When we went to anyone's house, my girls typically didn't leave my side unless they had been there before and were "welcomed" to play with the other children. But other than that, they didn't leave the room I was in! Even my kids could never stand kids like that.
I agree with Twalla - make sure you sleep on it. And here is the lesson - I learned it years ago........ Say no to the self-invite in the first place. It's your house. It was your dinner. I am not "forward" enough to be so direct as simply "no". But I come up with some excuse that "tonight wouldn't be a good time because we're discussing something personal, my daughter isn't feeling well, the dogs aren't feeling well", whatever.
I'm so sorry. You shouldn't have had to deal with that. Really bad parenting on their part.
