I am not sure about them being in the sun, but that is a great question that I would like to know about too. I got this thing from petsmart that helps with overheating. It looks kinda like a sweater made out of towel material that you stick in water and put it on them. It says it helps cool them down. I haven't used it yet, because I don't know how good she would do in the heat. I live in Texas, and I have noticed she gets hot very easily. Do they sunburn? My little girl is 2 1/2 lb and is an okay swimmer. When I first got her we were sitting by the spa, and like the idiot I am I let her walk around and she fell in. I swear I had a heart attack. To my relief she popped up so I could grab her, but she was sinking very fast. So sometimes before I give her a bath I will fill my tub up and get in with her so she won't drown. It has helped tramendously with her swimming. I am just scared that she will fall in somewhere and drowned, so my suggestion would be to fill the tub up or go in the pool with their life vests on(so they get used to them), and try and get them comfortable in the water. That way you don't have to be paranoid anything will happen. Sometimes dog trainers will have swimming lessons for dogs. Hope this helps.
