I got the reclaimed Valethics washable pads and they are the best thing I ever bought for my dogs. I have about 12 of them and do a load once a week. Like some of the others, I just have a trash can with a lid to put the folded soiled ones in. You ask about location: mine use it anywhere. They go in the laundry room at our house, but I've taken them to my office before and they use them without hesitation even though they aren't used to being there.
As far as throw rugs go...my little rascals will go on ANY throw rug, ANY where...they think those are pee pads too, I guess
I can't have any throw rugs in the areas my doggies are. We keep our bedroom doors and bathroom closed.
