My grandmother "browns" hers in an cast iron skillet and then puts it in a roasting pan in the oven. I am of now help because I do not know for how long or what else she puts in it. I am sure she puts in it a low heat oven though because hers always comes out juicy and fork tender! The crockpot would probably work well for this...I know I do my roasts in the crockpot and they always turn out juicy and fork tender!
