Plane Fyi

I carry Corky in three different carriers. Corky weighs 3.5 Kilograms or about 8 pounds.

One is the black sherpa Nylon backpack/hand carrier valid for carry-on if you fly with your pet. It has the mesh, the removeable cloth for washing etc (about $90 when I bought it but I think the price has dropped). Corky Hates it. We actually now remove him from the carrier and he sits quietly on my lap once the plane has taken off. (Yes, I know, this is against airline regulations but they have never said a thing since Corky behaves better than most children on the flight and some adults and he never messes up) He goes back in for landing and under the seat in front of me.
The second is a wet suit type material Kangaroo pack that is super for hiking! We did four and five hour hikes with Corky in it and it worked great. It is like a backpack for your chest, much like the baby carriers. Corky HATES it. But he will get in it if we ask him to. (we paid 35 euros $43)
The last one is like a larger 100% cotton beach bag my husband bought for $10. He cut down one side so corky could poke his head out even while sitting, he put a long narrow cutting board in the bottom for a stiff base for the Corkster to sit on covered with a nice wash cloth and Corky absolutely LOVES it. It breathes because it is all cotton and I think he finds it the most comfortable. He can even stand up in it if he feels like it without falling out. 'Sometimes if it is on the floor he goes over and takes a nap on it he likes it so much. We carry it with us when we go out because if Cork is looking a little tired we put it on the ground and ask "Do you want to go in the bag?" if the answer is yes, Corky simply walks over and steps straight into his bag! This way there is no forcing. Even with the bags he hates, we never, ever force him in. We trained him to go in with the treat method and after awhile (4 days) it just becomes another command.
