Ziggy used to do this and would get quite nasty when we tried to take things away. After a few times of him biting us we realized that the only thing to do is offer a trade. Now we get a treat and say "come" and as we offer it to him he lets go of the thing that he's not allowed to have. Works every time with no chasing, cornering, wrestling or biting (him, not me).
