 Do you watch him all the time?
You really need to keep him in a crate or an enclosed area when you cannot watch him. He needs to "go" right when he wakes up, after playing and after he eats. It is very important not to let him have run off the house without supervision. This allows him to go anywhere and starts a bad habit of him going where he wants to. Potty pads did not work for us so we trained Emma to go outside. And we were outside alot in the beginning. I am sure you will get more advice but I thought I would try to help.
I do think eating poo is normal.
