Franklin knows it's you from your "sounds"....whatever noise you make in the am...are the sounds he's attuned to. He also knows who it is that lets him out....you....that's why he only barks when you get up. They learn your schedules and pick up on things you do differently on different days. Both of mine come to work every day....they know what days are work days by the household habits and noises. Come Saturday....I do not have two dogs running to get in their crates when I pick up my keys....they know it's Saturday.
