I don't know if this is feasible, but I would take off your shoes once you get in the house. I don't think it's necessary to change your clothes and wash your hands but I think shoes can track in a lot of nasty stuff. Franklin got parvo and we never took him outside. We've concluded that we probably tracked it in on our shoes.
