Yes, there are plenty of side effects to neutering that are rarely talked about. I think people like to say that it prevents testicular cancer but don't like to talk about the down side. You can google it and see the possible side effects. The benefits outweigh the risks when talking about spaying, but it is a different story when you're talking about neutering. There is a 50% chance that a unneutered male will get testcular lumps and have to be neutered anyway though, I believe. These are quite often benign but can be cancerous.
