Well, if you have all the info and know how to care for him, then I would go ahead and take him and give him a good home with lots of love. In reality, we never know how long any one of us have on this earth. We just have to make the best of every day. I had 2 yorkie sisters, 9 yrs old, and one just died suddenly of kidney disease. We were(are) so heartbroken. Just love them with all your heart for as long as you can. God be with you.
