My husband works the night shift so he comes home when I'm just waking up. Smokey and Chip usually run to him barking happily when he comes in the door, but lately Smokey will run at him barking, say hello, then run back to me, lay across me and growl. When my husband gets closer Smokey cowers. I don't know why he's doing this. My husband has never given him a reason to need to "protect" me, nor given him a reason to feel the need to cower like that. Smokey is so sweet and loving, he wouldn't hurt a flea, so I don't understand why he's doing this... any ideas?
