You can take a snack but no liquid drink. You have to purchase that once you go through security. Wear shoes that aren't to complicated as you'll have to remove them to get through security. Also you'll have to remove your jacket so keep that in mind. I think they've even made me remove my sweatshirt before! Be sure to put an ID tag on your luggage and it'll be fine.

ETA: If you are really worried that your luggage is going to get lost, and your trip isn't to long, you could always just pack a carry-on bag. I think carry-on bag size varies depending on the airline.
