Mercedes are one of the best built cars out there. I know someone with a Mercedes from the late 80's with almost 300,000 miles on it, and it's still running strong!
I don't think it would be any more to maintain than any other car and I am sure since you are buying new it will be under some kind of warranty! Good luck and lucky you!
