Have you ever heard of reverse sneezing? It's harmess, and it sounds what you might be experiencing. You might try searching for that term here (click on the search button) and on google.

My vet told me that reverse sneezing symptoms differ from collapsed trachea symptoms in the direction the air is traveling. But I can't remember which is which. I would think collapsed trachea symptoms are the air coming in to the body and reverse sneezing is the air going out.
