I find it absolutely imperative as a breeder to keep in touch and have always made myself available to my puppies families no matter what. I have made many lifelong friends with my puppies new families. It is imperative to know how the puppies mature and their health for any future breeding issues. Sometimes if you tell the new families why you keep in touch they are a little more receptive. I tell my families I need to know of any health issues, their weight gain for my own records, etc. etc. It only makes my breeding program better and helps me to decide on future breedings. If they don't like the contact then they don't get a puppy, plain and simple! No loss on my part!
You did the right thing! And as someone else stated they are probably just "dog people". All my puppies are my grandchildren as far as I am concerned! |
