From what I have read, Leptospirosis vaccine is an UNnecessary danger to toy breeds. I left a vet I'd had for 10years, because she was not informed about the dangers of administering lepto to puppies and toy breeds. The vet I now have is the one who educated me further about the risks of lepto and the vaccine. There are several strains of Leptospirosis, and there's no guarantee that the vaccine one's dog receives will even protect it from the strain s/he may come into contact.

Basic precautions (don't allow your pet to drink from standing water, or behind other dogs) is the best preventative.

Yes, it's becoming widely accepted that most vaccines are more about the $$$, than about our pets. I only give what the law requires: rabies every 3 years. I intend to ask for titers, before subjecting mine to anymore.
