Jeter's breeder let us put a deposit down, we put $400 down for him then when we visited again we asked if we could put more down on him, so we did. The day we brought him home we paid the remaining balance off.
I have never heard of breeders letting buyers take the puppy home before they have paid in full. But some breeders do let you make a payment every so many weeks till they are paid for and able to go home.( I hope that made sense to you.)
