She's in a weird position right now and is definitely standoffish. If you ask her and wait for the right time she will evaluate your dog for you but be prepared for complete honesty and straightforwardness. She knows her yorkies and I don't know if anyone can groom better but she's not one to beat around the bush. If you're not feeling thick skinned, don't ask. Find another newbie that you can learn with and enjoy your dog. Judges can be alot of help, they are usually very supportive of newcomers. I got my feelings hurt my first show too, I also got my first point. You take the bad with the good, and you learn. |
She had about four different breeds she was showing and about eight to ten dogs of all kinds. That surprised me. She left a yorkie in the grooming noose while she was showing her Westies. I kept my eye on the dog (we were set up close to her) because the dog kept trying to figure out a way to get down. I held my breath until Kirsten came back. I am considering doing the Clarksville show. It is a two day show and I was told that most of the pro's won't do a two day show. not sure yet if I will fool with it. i might just wait until July. We have three UKC shows in Kentucky, July, August and November.
