You can imagine what the jokes were. But, we took second Friday. There were four dark puppies. The girl that beat me was just like my girl. They could have been twins except she was larger and SHE trotted good. My gal decided to lay down and put her face between her paws and roll her eyes at the judge. When he got ready to circle us, he looked at me and asked me if I thought she would follow the other dog. She did but on her one to one, she wouldn't even go back to the judge. But, he just laughed and NO dark dogs were DQ'd altho Andi said she was the one that had her other puppy DQ'd a couple of months ago because it too light.
Try to be patient Dee, it takes time to get to know people and for them to come to trust you. After they have seen you around for a while and see that you are serious and sincere about this they will open up. Don't worry about Kirsten, she really isn't a snob, she'll talk to you if you approach her. I got her talking once and was really surprised how much she opened up. She's in a weird position right now and is definitely standoffish. If you ask her and wait for the right time she will evaluate your dog for you but be prepared for complete honesty and straightforwardness. She knows her yorkies and I don't know if anyone can groom better but she's not one to beat around the bush. If you're not feeling thick skinned, don't ask. Find another newbie that you can learn with and enjoy your dog. Judges can be alot of help, they are usually very supportive of newcomers. I got my feelings hurt my first show too, I also got my first point. You take the bad with the good, and you learn.
