Well now that you ask.... Murfee is 4 and never had is anal glands expressed and never had a problem. About a week ago he started scooting. It was time for his check up and shots so I took him in. The vet expressed them and said that the liquid was thick Anyway we came home and immediately had a bath He stopped scooting for about a day and then started up again so I took him back today. She said the glands were empty but gave him a shot to help with the itching. So far he hasn't scooted any more today. I don't think I would like a groomer to express them. Good luck
