I think of the term- teacup- as a reference to adult size!
When buying a poodle for my sister- the refered to it as a "breeders term" for the size range the pup would be in.
They have 2 terms for the Toy Poodle breed;
TEACUP, TINY TOY----IN THE TOY POODLES
but there is no such thing as a tescup,or tiny toy by AKC- they are all toys! It is used as a term or slang for a size of a dog, like teapot! it is a slange, started by breders, to state if it is a smaller size pup.
That is what I read about the Toy Poodles- and IMO- it is for any small breed! so If I see an ad for teacup- I just think that is going to be a smaller dog.
nOW IF I SEE WE BREED FOR TEACUPS- that is another thing! I do not feel someone should breed for tiny pups- if you have some in a litter- you have some!
