I have heard that some people use fingernail polish in different colors to tell the puppies apart. I haven't had to resort to this as our usual litter is 4, and usually different sex/sizes to help tell them apart. Our last litter was four boys, and I considered using bands of some kind, but I know my mom would just lick/bite them off.
