I have a 10 year old chow mix, I did not even consider him not liking the new pup because he has always been around puppies and young children and never been bothered he is so laid back. Well after Lily was home for a day he no longer liked her every time she walks by him he grumbles. I know he would never hurt her but when he does this I walk over to him and say no and then I make him go into the other room for a few minutes, we have had Lily for 5 or so months now and he still is not that fond of her but now they have learned to ignore each other. After so much punishment for grumbling it is so funny now when PD grumbles he just gets up and goes into the punishment room all by himself. I found when punishing one or the other I had to walk up to them say there name and then take them to another room or the one not being punished would think he/she was in trouble. I also do not let them take each other’s toys so we do not have a lot of jealousy .In the evening my husband and I split up and go into separate rooms and play with each of them individually.
