If I ever see a flea on ANY of mine they would be getting immediate rotenone baths and every scrap of fabric in my house would be treated and the place fumigated. For the one you might catch on a comb there are probably a hundred that you don't see laying dormant wherever. A flea comb is not a control method, just a detection one. You need to use a preventative like topspot to keep them from infesting.
I had tenants once with a cat that let the place get infested with fleas and after emptying the place, cleaning and bombing twice I had to call an exterminator to get rid of them.
