I will not let Ellie have surgery without it and the bile acid test is a very good thing to do too. It sounds like you have a good vet.
It is very important to me that Ellie's vet does all of her surgeries. Low cost clinics may be okay but do they even offer blood tests? Do they do surgery on a heated surface? Do they give pain meds? What anesthesia do they use? Isoflurane or Sevoflurane? Is someone that just got out of vet school doing the surgery?
