LA doesn't have to be refrigerated but it doesn't have preservatives in there so i keep it in an air tight container or in the refrigerator. With 4 little piggies, i buy the 20 lbs. bag but it really doesn't need to be kept there. Just don't keep it in the garage or anyplace where there isn't climate control. A pantry is perfect too. The bags are thick and seal tightly. i free feed so it is out all the time. i have never had a problem with it. Years ago when i would get commerical dog food, weavals would pop out in no time. I would throw it out. Now i know it was just old food! YUCK!! I can't believe what we used to feed before we knew better. UGH!! I was just trusting that it was good if the pet stores sold it...WRONG! Read the ingredients and it will open your eyes to what crap they are selling
